The shell of the main building is currently 99 % completed. The window and facade are almost complete and the roofing work is in full swing. The technical extensions for cables, lines, heating, ventilation and sanitary facilities are also on the start. The outdoor facilities are being prepared, and the architectural elements such as the "joint" between the construction phases are particularly remarkable.

The campus should act as a place for training, encounter and development. The lessons are expected to begin in the school year 2026/2027, initially in the sorting building. At the beginning, the focus of the offer will be on the bundling and further development of existing educational offers, but new courses are not offered in the first step.
The project provides for the relocation of vocational schools for housekeeping and social pedagogy, and further modules such as construction technology as well as metal and electrical engineering are to be integrated. The listed main building of 1916/17 will also be part of the usage concept, which underlines the historical importance of the building.
a big step for the region
The educational senator Claudia Bogedan and Senator for Economic Affairs Martin Günthner emphasize the importance of this project for Blumenthal. It is planned that a total of five vocational schools from the north and west of Bremen will be combined on this new campus. The Blumenthal vocational school will be the first institution to create more space for the training of teachers and to counteract the shortage of skilled workers.
Many steps have already been launched. The interior work started in December 2024, and the focus is on insulation, drywall and plaster. The construction work is carried out by WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH on behalf of the Senator for Children and Education. wfb Bremen also reports that due to structural delays, among other things through pollutant renovations, the originally planned opening date in summer 2025 cannot be kept.
insight into the future
The entire campus project is designed not only to strengthen the training infrastructure, but also to set new impulses for the center of Blumenthal. The cost estimate for the renovation of the sorting building amounts to up to 15 million euros. In addition, a modern multi -purpose gymnasium is sought, the estimated costs of which are around 20 million euros. Overall budget for conversions and new buildings should amount to at least 140 million euros, such as SZ Blumenthal explained.
With all of these measures, not only the training should be improved, but also new companies should be attracted to the school location in order to enable the students: inside and the local companies. At the moment, 23 out of 27 hectares have already been developed, which offers space for the settlement of other companies and training offers.
The heart of the Bremen educational location will continue to grow in the next few years and is a sign of the ambitions of the region to promote training and business.
