Burglesum is planning a major upgrade: Lesumhafen will become an adventure place!
The redesign of public spaces is a central issue in many cities, and in Bremen there are also great ambitions to optimize such a space. The Burglesum advisory board has worked intensively on upgrading the Am Lesumhafen square, as Weser-Kurier reports. Suggestions for this initiative came primarily from advisory board members Jens-Rainer Jurgan, Rainer Tegtmeier and Oliver Meier, who formulated a corresponding proposal at the advisory board meeting.
A unanimous resolution at the meeting called on the Senator for the Environment, Climate and Science and the Senator for Economy, Ports and Transformation to take up the matter. What is required, among other things, is the repair or replacement of the benches on site, the installation of bicycle racks and more frequent green maintenance. Regular emptying of trash cans and replacing them with larger, environmentally friendly containers were also deemed necessary.
An overall concept for the space
The advisory board's concerns are clear: a comprehensive overall concept should be developed that also takes gastronomy and types of events into account. Accessibility plays an important role here, and the extent to which the field stones currently lying in the district can be relocated is being examined. So that these measures can be implemented, the advisory board is asking those responsible for a cost breakdown.
The work of Klima-Umwelt-Planstatt also illustrates how important well-designed public spaces are. These places not only promote meeting and interaction between people, but also contribute to a healthy, sustainable environment. It's about understanding the needs of users and integrating green spaces, playgrounds and safe walking and cycling paths.
Further topics in the advisory board
It remains exciting to see how the city of Bremen will implement these suggestions and whether the Am Lesumhafen square can shine in new splendor in the near future. Maybe one day Rainer Tegtmeier will even improve the atmosphere at Lesumhafen with a fresh, self-painted bench - an idea that shows that everyone can help beautify their own environment. A joint effort could not only improve the appearance, but also strengthen social interaction in Burglesum, as DAS BLV mentions.
