A1 exit Uphusen/Bremen-Mahndorf: nightly closure in September!
In the coming weeks, drivers in the Bremen region will have to expect restrictions on the A1 motorway. From the third week of September, the Uphusen/Bremen-Mahndorf exit in the direction of Hamburg will be closed three times a night due to renovation work on concrete slabs. The construction work, which has been ongoing since May, is taking place between the Mahndorfer Marsch car park and the Bremer Kreuz, as the Weser courier reported.
The closures are planned as follows: on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, on September 16th and 17th, then from Thursday to Friday, on September 18th and 19th, and finally from Monday to Tuesday, on September 22nd and 23rd. On these nights the exit remains closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Drivers are recommended to change direction at Bremer Kreuz in order to exit in Uphusen in the direction of Osnabrück.
Rehabilitation of the highway
The current renovation work is part of a larger project that is being carried out on the A1 in the Bremen area. Since mid-May, construction work has initially focused on the Arsten junction in the direction of Hamburg. The concrete used for the renovation hardens quickly, allowing traffic to flow again immediately after the overnight construction site is dismantled, keeping restrictions as minimal as possible Autobahn GmbH communicates.
From the end of May it was also reported that further sections between the Brinkum and Oyten junctions in both directions were to be renovated. This may occasionally result in additional closures of entrances and exits. Autobahn GmbH has announced that diversions will be signposted and asks for your understanding of the current restrictions.
Traffic management on the Weser Bridge
In addition, traffic routing on the Weser Bridge is expected to be adjusted from August. Then there are only two lanes available in both directions. The work on the concrete roadway in the area around the bridge should be completed by the time the traffic routing is changed. The tips from Autobahn GmbH for increased attention in the construction site area should not be underestimated, because this is where the new standard for safe driving during the renovation phases is being created.
Overall, it is important that all road users prepare for the upcoming construction work in the region and, if necessary, plan alternative routes to avoid delays. Stay safe and follow the current traffic routes on the A1!
