Bookseller: Inside cycling to Bremen: Rabatz in the children's room enthusiastic!
A happy mood prevailed last Sunday in the Kukoon cultural center when around 20 booksellers took part in the "Rabatz in the children's room" event. Among them was also Ute Gartmann from the bookstore Die Schatulle, who laid the approximately 30-kilometer route from Osterholz-Scharmbeck to Bremen by bike. The event, which took place for the first time in 2005 and was finally convincing in Frankfurt, has established itself as an integral part of the literary scene in the region.
In this special environment, the publisher leaders presented their publishers as well as the upcoming autumn programs. The Bremen author Will Gmehling was also invited as a special guest. Gmehling presented his soon -to -be picture book "At the very beginning was the ball", which comes out in July at Peter Hammer Verlag. The book, which comes up with the lively illustrations by Antje Damm, addresses the passion for football and promises to arrive well with young readers: in the inside.
look behind the scenes
But Gmehling not only gave those present insight into the popular sports literature. He also shared news about his youth novel "Stuxx", which will be released in his own publisher in Wuppertal in 2026. Such personal insights are of great importance for the booksellers: inside and publishers, since they provide valuable impulses for the sales strategies and arouse interest in the new titles.
This close cooperation between author: Inside and bookseller: Inside is an essential aspect of regional literary events. As with Buchberlin, the important Berlin book fair, which places a similar focus on the independent literary scene, the contact between visitors and exhibitors is promoted here. Buchberlin not only offers affordable stand fees, but also low admission prices and free access for children. In addition, numerous free readings are part of the concept.
a strong network
Another highlight of Buchberlin are the offers for networking and further education, which have been supplemented by workshops and lectures for small publishers and author: inside. Recently, the Buchberlin Academy, which was launched in 2023, has expanded this area and now offers workshops that can either be followed live or can be called up as records. Such initiatives are important for the promotion of reading and literature and show how closely the community works together in the literary scene.
In Bremen, not only writing was celebrated on this day, but also the joy of reading. "Rabatz in the children's room" has once again proven that love for books connects all generations and creates community - whether in the bookshop around the corner or at a large mass like Buchberlin.
