The walks take place on three dates - at 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. - at the Kattentorner Markt. In bad weather, the former post is the meeting point. Registration is recommended by email to spielleitplanung@die-raumplaner.de. The whole is part of the city's integrated development concept (IEK) and aims to create child -friendly habitats.

The importance of game management

What exactly is behind the game management? This is done in three phases: First, the existing survey is determined by forays, where children and young people have their informal venues and meeting points. This is followed by the collection of potentials, and finally the city develops measures to improve and creation play and lounge. The inventory is essential in order to be able to correctly evaluate freedom from the perspective of the younger ones, as the Page for child-friendly municipalities

Some measures that result from the results of these plans should help to ensure and expand streets and paths as networking elements. In general, a framework plan is being developed, the farewell of which is necessary by the local council to develop binding effect.

The trend towards child -friendly cities

Especially in the past legislative period, child -friendly habitats were an important topic in the German Bundestag. The Children's Commission has dealt intensively with the question of how children's rights in urban planning can be taken into account more. Dominik Bär, managing director of the association child-friendly municipalities, emphasized that the implementation of the UN Convention for Children's Rights in municipalities is crucial.

In Germany, 36 municipalities are currently accompanying a four- to five-year program that aims to create child-friendly structures. Regensburg is often mentioned as a prime example, where extensive game management has already been implemented. A common goal of these initiatives is to put children's rights into practice and to promote municipal development.

The efforts to create child -friendly habitats clearly show that in urban planning not only technical aspects, but also social justice, as well as the design of the traffic areas. This ensures that children can move safely and independently in their environment.

The Kattenturm initiative in Bremen is a step in the right direction and not only offers children the opportunity to express their wishes and needs, but also invites the entire community to work in a child-friendly environment.
