The summer vacation is just around the corner and the extensive plans for the extent family from Bremen have already forged. While the parents Janine and their partner want to enjoy a two-week break on the Baltic island of Fehmarn, the 16-year-old four-class LIV, Fiona, Marten and FIN are involved in a varied holiday program of the Paulusgemeinde. The siblings of their school days are paying special attention because they prepare for the upcoming end of the Free Evangelical Confederation School. Fin, on the other hand, follows a career as an industrial mechanic and has also got a place at Airbus.

So they recently took part in Leas Wedding and a camping holiday in Sweden, both of whom were special events for the Stührenbergs. Liv and Fiona are interested in social professions and want to use this experience in order not only to develop as part of their training. An FSJ usually takes 12 months and offers young people the opportunity to work in social institutions. It is not just about gaining practical experience, but also acquiring social and professional skills and strengthening your own self -confidence. The areas of application are diverse and range from elderly and nursing to day care centers to support in cultural institutions.

The FSJ is open to all young people up to 26 years, and even refugees can apply. In addition to the recognition of the FSJ in many courses and the possibility of completing valuable seminar days, adequate remuneration is also ensured during the service. Such commitment can help to expand your own perspectives and to open up new horizons, which is certainly of great importance for the foursies. The possibility of completing the FSJ part -time could be an additional incentive for many interested parties, because part -time work enables flexibility, for example to accept a part -time job.
