Translatory attack in Bremen: Investigations after brutal deed!

On Monday evening, June 30, 2025, a questionable incident occurred in Bremen-Walle: An 18-year-old trans person was victims of a brutal attack at the Jadestraße tram stop at 7:30 p.m. Two young people got out of a tram, attacked the young victim without warning and struck and hit the person already on the ground before they fled. The person concerned later had to be treated on an outpatient basis in the hospital. Due to her awareness as a trans person in Bremen, a translocating motif is assumed behind the attack. The state protection has now taken over the investigation, since a politically motivated hate attack cannot be ruled out, as anwalt.de.

This incident is not isolated, but reflects the worrying phenomenon of queer hostility, which has increased dramatically in Germany in recent years. According to a current report by the BKA, 1,785 crimes against LSBTIQ*Personal were recorded in 2023, which corresponds to a significant increase compared to previous years. The number of unreported crimes is estimated to be shocking 80-90%, which means that many queer people must continue to check their surroundings for potential dangers. Insults and acts of violence are particularly common, as the example from Bremen shows.

hate crime in the upswing

The current situation not only represents a threat to individuals, but also has an intimidating effect on the entire LSBTIQ*community. According to the Lesbian and Gay Association of Germany (LSVD), hate crime is a massive form of expression of queer hostility that endangers democracy and human rights. More and more people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or queer are exposed to violence in public space and are experiencing an increased threat from queer -anti -querus.

The possible criminal consequences for the alleged perpetrators in Bremen are serious: in addition to the dangerous bodily harm, which could occur in common action and attacks on a defenseless person, insults and violations of hate crime are also considered. If the translation motive is confirmed, this could have a punishable effect. Possible measures in adolescents under the age of 18 include juvenile sentences, social hours or even accommodation in a facility. The educational idea plays a central role in this.

A call to awareness

With the incident in Bremen, it once again makes it clear how important it is to take queer -hostile violence seriously and to focus more on the investigation. In addition, the police and the judiciary are required to offer appropriate training so that queer -anti -queucers can be better recognized and recorded. Such acts may only be prevented in the future by better awareness and strengthen the feeling of security.

In view of this, it is important that data subjects continue to be encouraged to file a complaint. In addition to the legal persecution of attackers, the use of sacrificial advice or the possibility of making pain and suffering claims is of great importance. The current incident is an urgent appeal for solidarity and mutual support within the community.
