Bremen presents: The new three-meter house at the harbor!
In the downtown Bremen, the latest architectural project, known as the "three-meter house", will soon be awakening to life. This narrow but towering building at the intersection on the ports/Gertrudenstraße catches the eye both due to its size and its unusual coloring. The house designed by architect Philipp Romeiser has a height of 13 meters and a width of only 2.40 meters, which only reinforces its fascination. The facade in a deep black makes the building appear smaller, but the impression is deceptive: Inside, future residents expect light -flooded rooms with floor -to -ceiling windows and a bright interior.
Ahorn parquet is also planned, while the stairs are decorated with a light gray, glazed railing. "The inside of the house is supplemented by simple, modern furniture," Romeiser confirms his vision of a contemporary living space. While the completion is planned for mid -July, a lot has been discussed since the preliminary building request in 2017. After initial rejection of the city, the property owner complained and finally received the building permit in 2021. However, the construction could only begin three years later due to blocked accesses and waiting house connections.
design change in the city
The three-meter house is not only a new residential project, but also part of the larger trend in architecture and urban planning, which focuses on the revival of the city center. In the book "Stadthäuser - A Housing Typology" by Aylin Genca, the increasing popularity of living in the city center is discussed. The publication presents a variety of projects that were designed by both renowned architects and prospective architects from the TU Darmstadt. Genca and their co-authors, Günter Pfeifer and Per Brauneck, offer a comprehensive overview of different living types that arise in urban rooms.
With the focus on new requirements for the housing stock and the densification, the book offers ideas that are also important for future projects such as the three-meter house. Here it becomes clear how important it is to adapt your own living space to the conditions of the cities and to take into account the urban planning context.
sustainability in housing construction
Another aspect that shapes modern architecture in housing is the increasing importance of sustainability and energy efficiency. More and more builders and architects are oriented towards environmentally friendly solutions for new projects. Wood is often used because it has a much better CO2 balance than concrete or steel. Recyclable materials and insulation materials from renewable raw materials are also required.
Intelligent building technologies, such as smart home systems, help to optimize energy consumption and promote a healthy indoor climate. These sustainable approaches not only make sense for ecological reasons, but also contribute to greater living comfort and an increase in value of the real estate.
If you are interested in the extraordinary construction of the three-meter house, you have the opportunity to visit the architecture day, June 29th. The building may be less suitable for families due to the lack of accessibility and parking spaces, but it sets an impressive sign of innovative living solutions in urban rooms. Architect Philipp Romeiser hopes to inspire other property owners with his project, to develop similar living space.
