Obervieland, Deutschland - On July 4, 2025, there was a special reason to celebrate in Bremen-Kattenturm: The “Kattentrash 2.0” project transformed garbage cans into living works of art. This creative project is part of a climate campaign supported by Vonovia, Gewoba and Brebau. "The promotion of social projects is important to us," explains Silke Loose, the regional manager of Vonovia Bremen Umland. The initiative aims to promote greater awareness of climate issues and sustainability in the neighborhood.

Some creative minds from the district had submitted their designs to redesign the garbage cans, which were selected by a jury. This jury consisted of representatives of the supporting organizations and artists. The implementation of the selected designs took place in the project week from June 16 to 20, with residents of the Christian Rehabilitation House Bremen actively participating under the artistic guidance of Anja Fußbach and Frank Bertoldi. A festive award ceremony took place on July 1st in front of the Oberwandand local office, where the winners received sustainable prizes for their creative contributions. The newly designed garbage cans can now be admired in various residential complexes in the district and contribute to the visual upgrading of the cityscape.
