Laying the foundation for new high school: a milestone for Bremen!
On June 4, 2025, an important step was taken in Bremen towards the future of our schools: The foundation stone for the extension of the high school in the park and a new sports hall has taken place. This large project is realized by Immobilien Bremen and August Reiners Bauunternehmung GmbH as part of a public-private partnership. The total costs of the construction project amount to an impressive 39.6 million euros, and the implementation takes place according to the climate protection standard Efficiency house 40.
With a usable area of around 6,000 square meters, the extension is built as a cube in three floors. Particular attention was paid to obtained as many of the existing trees as possible on the area. The sports hall is creatively embedded in the ground and will offer a replacement for the burned -out old gym, which will benefit the club sport in the district in particular.
A new learning location for the students
Headmaster Uwe Schönefeld emphasizes the positive aspects of the new Homeb (House of Open Montessori Education). According to [berlin.de] (https://www.berlin.de/ba-reinickendorf/aktuelles/pressemaytungen/2024/Pressemage department 1440701.php), this extension will include 16 stem group rooms, 8 division rooms and a cafeteria with output kitchen. The planned use of the new premises is planned for the school year 2026/27.
The facade is designed with spruce wood and aluminum sheet, while the roof is provided with extensive greening to support the sustainable integration of the building. Wood-aluminum profiles with motor window ventilation systems are used to ensure a pleasant indoor climate. This well thought -out concept creates an inspiring learning environment for the students: inside.
A look beyond the city limits
Developments in Bremen are part of a larger trend: cities and federal states in Germany react to the increasing number of students by developing comprehensive programs for new school construction. As reported the Bundesbaublatt, cities like Munich, Cologne and Hamburg have already developed extensive school guidelines to react to the growing demand.
With a focus on digitization, individualized learning and inclusion, the modular construction is becoming increasingly popular. Architect Jan Hohlfeld emphasizes the advantages of these flexible and cost -efficient construction, which enables school projects to be able to implement school projects faster and high -quality. The experiences from more than 50 years of modular architecture flow here.
The laying of the foundation stone in Bremen not only sets a local accent, but is part of a significant change in German school building. It remains exciting how the educational landscape will shape the coming years.
When lending the foundation stone, Alexander Hamacher, Monika Steinhauer, Uta Kummer, Sascha Karolin Aulepp and Björn Fecker, who together laid the cornerstone for the future of our schools.
