Stopping field fire in Bodenwerder: Fire brigades in large -scale use!
On July 2, 2025, a stubble field fire occurred in Lower Saxony Bodenwerder, which quickly grew to an area of about 250 m². The causes of the fire were the extreme heat and the dry conditions that have recently prevailed. As the Johanniter accident aid reports, around 90 emergency services of the surrounding fire departments had been mobilized in order to quickly control the fire.
The cooperation between farmers and firefighters was particularly effective: the latter created fireplaces, while tank fire vehicles transported extinguishing water. In order to be medically prepared for all eventualities, an ambulance from the standard rescue service from Bodenwerder was alerted. The Johanniter-Accident Hilfe Holzminden then took over the medical protection on site.
crisis protection in action
Another highlight of the use was the use of a UTV, an all -wheel drive terrain vehicle, which allowed rapid supply in the rough terrain. This turned out to be particularly advantageous, especially with support during the cleanup and collecting the hose pipes. Fortunately, the assignment went without injuries. "We thank the fire brigade for the excellent cooperation," said a spokesman for the Johanniter.
The Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V., based in Berlin, not only carries out operations in disaster protection, but is also involved in first aid training and in medical wax service. She can look back on a long story because it was recognized by Chancellor Konrad Adenauer in 1963 and in 1991 by Helmut Kohl as a voluntary auxiliary company. The organization is one of three recognized aid companies in Germany, in addition to the Maltese relief service and the German Red Cross.
together strong in disaster protection
Over 1.7 million people are active in disaster protection in Germany, with more than 90 percent of these helpers work on a voluntary basis. Disaster protection intervenes in particular if the regular emergency services and the fire brigade are no longer sufficient. Typical use scenarios include severe storms, floods, fires and large industrial accidents. The warning of upcoming disasters is a central aspect of work.
"It is important to always train the skills and skills of the helpers," emphasizes a Johanniter responsible. Numerous volunteers are not only committed to the Johanniter accident aid, but often also in voluntary fire brigades and in the technical relief organization. This cooperation contributes to the security and crisis resistance of our society.
The Johanniter-Accident Hilf Holzminden is ready for future missions with specialized vehicles and trained employees in order to be able to help quickly and professionally in an emergency.
