Massive warning strikes on July 1: TÜV employees are demanding more wages!
in Bremen is facing a significant event that concerns the approximately 20,000 TÜV employees. On 1. July 2025 calls the United Service Union (ver.di) on nationwide warning strikes. The union is currently negotiating salaries for their employees who work in the test, inspection and certification service industry, and wants to take a clear step forward. However, there was no result for the first round of negotiations that took place in mid -June. This increases the voltage and expectations for the coming days.
In Bremen, the opening rally in the city center begins at 11:00 a.m. in front of the trade union house, followed by a demonstration that leads to the station forecourt, where the final rally will take place. Protests will also take place in Hanover, and the participants can also stand up for their rights with a strong voice.
demands in the focus
ver.di calls for a salary increase of 7.5 percent or at least 330 euros more a month for employees. While employers recently offered only two increases 1.7 percent with a term of two years, ver.di criticizes that such offers are synonymous with real wage losses for employees. The negotiators around Michael Aschenbach emphasize the need for a reasonable compensation for the hard work that the employees do.
The Society for Plant and Nuclear Safety (GRS) and TÜV Hessen also fall under the Area of Area Tool for the TÜV BUND, while TÜV Süd has its own collective agreement. This is on 30. June 2025 ending, which also leaves the obligation to peace and the mobilization phase begins. For TÜV Süd, ver.di even demands an increase of 8 percent or at least 300 euros more per month.
effects on the TÜV
The warning strikes could have a significant impact on TÜV's services. As already mentioned, all employees of TÜV BUND and TÜV Süd are called to participate in the warning strikes and to make their voice heard. The ver.di union will inform the active people regionally about the planned measures. This could lead to a standstill in certain areas, even affect the entire surveillance and examination industry in the region.
The current situation is not only a clear sign of the importance of fair collective bargaining, but also a challenge for the employer side. Collective bargaining and their results are important indicators of wage development in Germany. Over the past few years, it has been shown that the degree of coverage of collective agreements has decreased - from 67% in 2000 to only 54% in 2018, as studies show. However, the collective bargaining will remain high in the public sector.
It is all the more important that the employees remain mobile and demand their rights. At a time when increasing cost of living and inflation, the wallet nibbles more than ever are more important than ever. Now it is time for everyone involved: - Confuse the color and stand together in these important days! The contact persons in Bremen, Nils Wolpmann, at 0171/6560509 as well as in Hanover, Tess Herrmann (01516/1273424) and Michael Aschenbach (01511/4269188) are available. It remains exciting and we will keep an eye on the developments.
