Bremen fights for space funding: The moon is calling!

Bremen, Deutschland - in Berlin, Bremen, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria set a sign of space travel and present a common paper that makes clear demands to the German Federal Government and the European Space Agency ESA. Buten and inland reports that Bremen puts a special focus on the area of "exploration", i.e. the exploration of the universe and its heavenly body.

A central concern of the Bremen is the increase in the German share in the budget of the ESA. Finally, the funds flow back to the donor countries through orders, which could boost the economy on site. In particular, the company Airbus, which builds central parts of the Orion room capsule for the moon mission Artemis in Bremen, could benefit from such a gain. Airbus emphasizes that the moon is not only relatively close, but also offers resources that could be decisive for future goals.

collaboration and future prospects

Bremen's Senator for Economic Affairs Kristina Vogt demands closer cooperation with space powers such as India or Japan, since Europe needs "independent access to space". In addition, the development of a separate transport mission is essential in order to be able to carry out missions independently. Bremen is currently producing important parts for the European Rakete Ariane 6, which is also supposed to make a significant contribution to space travel.

The artemis mission of NASA, which started in December 2022 with the unmanned Test flight Artemis I, aims to send people again in September 2025 with Artemis II. The moon landing in the context of Artemis III is planned for the end of 2026 and is viewed by many as a big step in space travel. German astronauts such as Matthias Maurer and Alexander Gerst play a key role and are accompanied by Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck to the USA to support Germany's participation in the Artemis program, such as Deutschlandfunk reported.

The government plans to increase the opportunities for German astronauts, to enter the surface of the moon and further deepen what has been researched. These efforts are not only a technical progress, but also have cultural and economic policy importance for Germany.

Time runs and the Mars exploration is in the starting blocks. Airbus also wants to contribute to the fact that a lunarian ecosystem is being created to support future missions, such as Mars. There is something and Bremen is ready to take its place in space history.
