The hopper: The revolution in city traffic - now test drive!
in Bremen, the area is once again innovation in terms of innovation! Hopper Mobility, an emerging Hamburg startup, started the series production of its new Pedelecs Hopper. This covered hybrid vehicle combines the maneuverability of a bicycle with the amenities of a car, which makes it an ideal solution for city traffic. The vehicle presents itself with a roof, a back seat and a lockable trunk - a concept that was already presented as a vision in 2020 and is now becoming increasingly popular in Germany. Motorbeporter reports that the agile Hopper models have a turning radius of less than two meters and can therefore be easily maneuvered in narrow streets.
The cooperation with Little John Bikes, a leading bicycle dealer in Germany, is intended to strengthen the presence of the hopper in the stationary bicycle trade. Interested citizens of Bremen can currently take a test drive in the E-Bike Store of Epedalics by mid-July. With a positive response, this test campaign could extend to further stores by Little John Bikes. The pedelec is available in two variants: the Passenger Hopper for two from 11,900 euros and the Cargo Hopper with a spacious trunk from 12,300 euros. A big advantage: no approval or a driver's license is required for use.
technical innovations and comfort
The hopper is a pedelec, which means that it only supports pedal movements. Driven by a 250-watt rear-wheel motor, it can achieve a top speed of 25 km/h. The battery, a removable lithium-iron phosphate battery with 30 AH, offers a range of around 65 km per load. An optional solar system on the roof can increase this range even further. Impactlab emphasizes that the hopper is equipped with a modern Pedal-by-Wire-System is that simplifies maintenance and reduces mechanical complexity.
In addition to the powerful headlights and the integrative USB connection, the hopper also offers improved suspension, optimized driving dynamics and new driving electronics, which significantly increases driving pleasure. All of this helps to ensure that the vehicle is ideally suited for short distances in the city and for longer tours.
e-bike trend in Germany
The hopper is part of a growing market: In 2023, the production figures for e-bikes in Germany were around 1.6 million, with the average price being around 2,950 euros. While e-bikes also gain popularity in other European countries, such as France, pedelecs-among which the hopper is-are very popular in urban mobility. Statista reports that the existence of e-bikes in Germany rose to around 11 million in 2023 and more and more people, especially in rural areas, switch to this form of transportation.
With its future -oriented concept and the many advantages, the hopper is well equipped in order to change the urban traffic systems sustainably. For Bremener, a new field of locomotion opens up here, which is not only modern, but also comfortable.
