Voluntary visit exciting home emergency calls in Stedingen!
On June 13, 2025, the federal volunteer workers from the Hildesheim local association had the opportunity to take an exciting trip to the home emergency call center in Stedingen. Like the Johanniter accident help e. V. reports that the group was received by Marco Fürst, the head of the headquarters. He introduced them to work of the house emergency call and explained how the dispatchers at the headquarters deal with emergency calls.
The excursion was not only instructive, but also a real eye opener for all participants. A comment from team leader Jens Knakowski shows the group's enthusiasm: "The visit was educational and exciting for the participants." According to the informative part of the program, everyone took the opportunity to grill together in the Hildesheim department, which rounded off the experience and promoted social cohesion.
A look behind the scenes of the emergency call center
The house emergency center is working day and night to help people in need. The insights that the volunteers could win make it clear how important and responsible the work of the dispatchers is. Not only is it as required here, but also with empathy. Such practical experiences are a valuable addition to the volunteers who often work in social professions or want to prepare for them.
Not only the volunteers from Hildesheim benefit from such excursions. The Federal Voluntary Service (BFD) offers an excellent opportunity to show social commitment and at the same time gain practical experience. Every year, many people, including foreigners, take part in this service. Young EU citizens have a little easier here, while people from non-EU countries need a valid residence permit to be able to take part in Germany on a voluntary year. This regulation opens up numerous opportunities for people who want to get involved in German society without being viewed as immigrants. Information on this can be found on the website of the federal voluntary service.
diversity of the points of application
There are many different organizations in Germany that offer support as part of the BFD. These include:
- Arbeiter-samariter-bund Deutschland e. V. in Cologne
- Working group of Evangelical Youth in Germany e. V. in Hanover
- Aklhü e. V. , network for international personnel cooperation
- Technical relief organization in Bonn
- Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft e. V. in Bad Nenndorf
Through this variety of areas of application, volunteers can not only gain experience in the social field, but also in environmental and disaster help.
In the end, the federal voluntary service not only offers a valuable opportunity for mutual support not only the volunteers, but also society. Interested parties should find out about the various options at an early stage so that they can find their place in one of the numerous programs. In this sense, it can be hoped that many young people and committed adults take this opportunity to set both personal and social accents.
