Shock in the stone gate: man seriously injured by robbery - police are looking for witnesses!
In the downtown Bremen, a violent attack caused headlines: On July 13th, shortly before midnight, a 31-year-old man in the Steintorviertel was the victim of a brutal attack. According to the current reports of the Weser-Kurier, the man was approached at the corner of Steintor/Fehrfeld when drugs were offered for sale. After his rejection, the unknown followed the victim and attacked him with a broken glass bottle, causing the man to suffer serious stab wounds in the upper body and his mobile phone was stolen.
The perpetrator, whose identity has not yet been clarified, is described as about 30 years old, slim, about 1.80 meters tall and with black skin and hair color. He was dressed dark at the time. The Bremen police called the population to report with clues. Witnesses are requested to report on 0421/362-3888 to contribute to clarifying the crime.
growing violent crime in Germany
In a broader context, an analysis on violent crime in Germany shows that security concerns, despite the statistically small number of violent offenses, concern people. According to Statista, violent crimes make up less than 4% of all crimes recorded, but they influence the feeling of security of the citizens far -reaching. Around 217,000 violent crimes were registered in 2024, the highest number since 2007, and since then a negative trend reversal has been observed.
A terrifying phenomenon is the increase in young violent offenders. About a third of the suspects were in 2024 under the age of 21, which gives information about the social problems and possible psychological stress that are shown in society. This number of pay has become a topic again, since the willingness to violence also increases in conflicts among young people, which was recently observed in Gröpelinger Heerstrasse during a mass brawl.
mass brawls and their consequences
On May 31, 2024, there was a massive discussion between two groups in Gröpelingen, with at least five people suffering from serious stab wounds. Here, too, the police immediately mobilized emergency services in order to lock the area and clarify the background of the dispute. With a participation of men between the ages of 17 and 34, some of which had to be treated in hospitals, this incident once again shows the concern that violence of young people escalates more and more.
The police relies on cooperation with the population and also asks for support in this case. Video and photos are also welcome to clarify the events.
The relevance of such incidents is undisputed. Much of the population sees violence and aggression against emergency services, the police and other institutions as a major problem. In a survey from May 2024, over 94% of those surveyed stated that they have concerns about security.
The feeling of security in Bremen is therefore clearly scratched, and the city sees itself in a area of tension between violence, fear and the need for citizens for protection. While the investigation continues in the current case, the question remains how these developments can be influenced in the coming months.
