This decision was communicated on Wednesday evening via social media, and sports director Jens Fröhlich can breathe a sigh of relief. "We are very happy about the class," he said optimistically after the team has reached the 15th place in the table. A strong final sprint was crucial to secure the non -relegation zone, especially after Hannover 96 II had to descend from the 3rd league and the TSV Havelse climb.

Nevertheless, the financial concerns did not fail to materialize. The Bremer SV missed the move into the DFB Cup, which leads to a shortfall of around 180,000 euros. The investments from a fundraising campaign and individual donations also support the budget, which was reduced by around 70,000 euros compared to the previous year.

Financial challenges in focus

Despite these income, the Bremer SV budget remains tense with around 350,000 euros. The fixed costs of the regional league amount to at least 125,000 euros, which means that after deducting these costs, only around 75,000 euros are available for the team - this is not much if you consider that about half of the squad could leave the club. In fact, the club is planning with a "micro budget" and is looking for creative solutions to cover the running costs.

An upcoming board meeting on Wednesday will concentrate on creating a financial plan to cope with this difficult situation. Jens Fröhlich pointed out that the financial loss by missing the DFB Cup push the club into an even more precarious location. The introduction of funds was excluded, which makes the search for alternative financing options all the more urgent. However, it is clear that the Bremer SV is still qualified in the regional league and the club management does everything possible to keep this position in the next season.

It also became known that coach Sebastian Kmiec announced his farewell after the defeat in the lottery cup final against SV Hemelingen. This could possibly have other changes in the squad.
