Kreissportbund Bremen-Nord plans 2025 no holiday program for children!
In Bremen-Nord, a hot topic causes a stir: The Kreissportbund Bremen-Nord (KSB) will not offer a holiday program for children and adolescents for the summer of 2025. This was announced by deputy chairman Jens Raczkowski. The reason for this decision is the inability of the KSB to manage the organization of the program. Employee Joachim Kasten, who was previously responsible for the implementation, can no longer do this for health reasons.
Member associations of the KSB were already informed about this decision in November 2024. Although the clubs were asked to organize the holiday offer independently, no prospect has been found. The KSB looks after around 70 member associations in the region, and many parents had hoped for a wide range. Particularly bitter: While an extensive holiday program with sports, play and movement was offered in the previous year, a gap remains in 2025.
Missing infrastructure and renovation problems
In addition, the KSB has only had a new address since May 1, 2025: at the Wollkämerschau 5, on the former combing site. There is currently only one internet connection, no telephone. But that's not all: the KSB has managed the building since the beginning of the year after the Blumenthaler sports club has taken responsibility there. The old building on the Bockhorner Weg, where the KSB was located until the end of 2024, showed great renovation. Not all planned construction work could be carried out with the approved means. Important documents that would be essential for the continuation of the sport are still missing.

The situation was significantly different last year: the KSB Bremen-Nord offered an extensive holiday program that included sport, adventure and culture. Almost all events were free so that all children who spend their vacation at home could be motivated to act. These initiatives were received positively by many, and highlights such as the Werdersee festival moved nimble legs into the movement.Now not only children and parents hope, but also the club members for an early solution. The lack of an organized program could not only affect children, but also the future cooperation among the clubs. The KSB's efforts to create an alternative offer are under pressure while the summer vacation is approaching.
