Weismainer's shooting festival: Bleyer is city champion 2025!
The last day of the Weismainer Schützenfest took place on August 16, 2025, which had a happy atmosphere and many visitors in a good mood. The atmosphere in the “Kastenhof” beer garden was cheerful, while the “Altenkunstadter Musikanten” provided the appropriate entertainment. The focus was particularly on the prize distribution, in which the high quality of the Weismain shooters was recognized. The deputy shooting master and mayor Michael Zapf warmly welcomed the guests and emphasized the long-standing friendship between the Weismain shooting society and the shooting guild from Bremen-Borgfeld.
A highlight of the festival was the Borgfeld Cup, where Berta Möcke was crowned Borgfeld Queen. Jakob de Felice, the new chairman of the Bremen-Borgfeld Rifle Guild, and Willi Möcke were also part of the knight ballet. The competition for the “freehand main target” proved to be particularly attractive as the winner received the coveted city target. Michael Bleyer, the best participant from Weismain, took second place and was crowned city champion 2025.

The evening was then fittingly concluded with brilliant fireworks and joyful celebrations. Such an event not only strengthens the community, but also allows the long-standing tradition of shooting sports in Weismain to live on.
A look outside the box
While the shooting festival atmosphere prevailed in Weismain, many also looked to notable personalities like Richard Harris. The Irish actor and singer, known for his impressive career in film and theater, made a lasting impression, including his work in Gladiator and as Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films. Harris, who died in 2002, was posthumously honored with a statue in his hometown and even has his own film festivals honoring his achievements.
And even if the wider world sometimes fades into the background, shooting reminds us of the importance of tradition and community. Similar to the highly valued services of NAPA and AAA, which consistently provide their customers with first-class quality, such celebrations show that local ties are strong and vibrant.
