Achim's Beck'shaus: 30 years of tradition end with bankruptcy frenzy!

Hemelingen, Deutschland - In the downtown Bremen, a well -known traditional restaurant, Achim’s Beck’shaus, has registered bankruptcy and closed its gates. The last opening day was June 30, 2025. After over 30 years in the shop, the owner Setareh Ghofofrani, who has run the restaurant since 2013, says goodbye. As reported Kreiszeitung.de, the dramatic loss of sales, the consequence of the covid-19 pandemy, have heavily burdened the company.

The sales of Achim’s Beck’shaus have almost halved during the pandemic. HomeOffice regulations led to a decline in lunch and the evening business could not compensate for the losses. There were also construction sites in the area, which also put on the restaurant. Ultimately, it was the high final accounts of the Corona economic aids that made Ghofofrani end the lease and apply for bankruptcy.

restaurateurs in the crisis

The closure of Achim’s Beck’shaus is part of a larger trend in the catering trade, which is characterized by financial difficulties. According to [creditreform.de] (https://www.creditreform.de/aktuelles-wissen/Pressem reports-fachbeitrae/news-details/show/krisengerachen-in-der-gastronomie- 48000-closings-202 and 2023 there was an increase in insolvencies in the catering, which the industry has strong hits. The restaurateur Thorsten Songs from the Bremen Gastro community describes the general Situation as tense: "Rising rents, lack of personnel and the emigration of the guests to external catering are just a few of the challenges with which we have to fight."

Setareh Ghofofrani and her team would like to thank the loyal guests who have visited the restaurant over the years. Achim’s Beck’shaus was particularly well attended at lunchtime and on Werder match days. The owner plans a break after the closure, but also sees a possibility for the future. Talks are currently underway with a prospect who wants to take over the restaurant and do a renovation to reopen it with a similar concept, reports weser-kurier.de.

The situation illustrates the challenges with which many restaurateurs in Germany are faced. Inflation and increasing costs make it increasingly difficult to carry a restaurant, and gastronomy as a whole has to adapt to the new realities on the market. The reports about closures warn that even established companies can threaten a difficult fate.
