Seniors' representative Schwachhausen: Together against loneliness!

The senior citizens' representation in Schwachhausen actively takes on the interests of the older generation and is becoming increasingly noticeable. As reports Spot Bremen , the volunteer group made up of twelve members, all over 60 years old, for the needs of the seniors in the district. Delegates are chosen for the citizenship and advisory board elections at regular intervals, with a delegate being appointed for each 4000 over 60 year olds. Schwachhausen chose four delegates in 2023, which are supplemented by representatives of churches and charities.

One of the main characters in the senior citizens' representative is Helmut Erbel, who has been working since 2023 and actively participates in delegate meetings and four working groups, which deal with topics such as generational urban development, care and health, senior policy as well as digital and analog participation. The focus of the work of the senior citizens' representative includes pension schemes, living issues, health matters, mobility and the topic of loneliness. For this purpose, critical points in foot traffic and accessibility are examined.

The senior citizens' representation aims to improve the coexistence of all generations and to encourage people to actively participate in the design of their living environment. Regina Meyer emphasizes how important it is to create offers for retirees in order to counteract loneliness. The exchange with other actors in the district is of great importance, especially since the resources are limited in terms of financial resources and premises. One approach could be the use of available space in the Sparkasse for various activities.

A promising first meeting took place in the community center Our dear women, where visitors presented concrete project ideas, such as everyday accompaniment and the establishment of a choir. The senior citizens' representation takes these proposals seriously and plans to check them and, if necessary, implement them. Central concerns are also the improvement of the quality of stay outdoors and the promotion of a non -commercial meeting place where seniors can exchange ideas.

regular consultation hours and updates

Regular consultation hours for older citizens are an integral part of the offer of the senior citizens' representative. These take place monthly every first Tuesday in the community center of our dear women, with the next appointments on July 1, 2025, August 5, 2025, October 7, 2025, November 11, 2025 and December 9, 2025.
