New educational campus Sodenmatt: laying of the foundation stone on June 11, 2025!
An exciting day for Bremen: On June 11, 2025, the foundation for the new Sodenmatt education campus was laid on the Amersfoorter Strasse. The campus will not only include a modern elementary school and a replacement building of the daycare center, but also a new sports hall. This initiative creates an important piece of socio-cultural infrastructure for Huchting, as the proximity to the citizens' and social center promotes exchange in the district. More prominent personalities such as finance senator Björn Fecker, educational senator Sascha Karolin Aulepp as well as other representatives of Immobilien Bremen and Kita Bremen, who emphasized the importance of the project and clearly outlined their vision for the future.
The educational campus is built on a former playground, which is converted into a modern learning and living space. The total costs of the project amount to an impressive 44.6 million euros, with the Bremen company August Prien acting as a general contractor. Photovoltaic systems on the roofs and a connection of the buildings to the district heating network are also planned. These sustainable measures underline the continuous focus of the city on environmentally friendly solutions. The new daycare center will offer over 160 places in eight groups and is expected to be completed in July 2026. At the same time, the old daycare center is demolished from August 2026 to make room for the new primary school.
traffic concept and infrastructure
But not only education is a big topic: the traffic situation around the new educational campus is also examined. From September, the Wendehammer on the Amersfoorter Strasse will be heavily frequented because parents bring their children to kindergarten. In order to avoid traffic problems, the traffic concept provides for shifting parents to Heinrich-Plett-Allee and the street on Sodenmatt. Access to kindergarten is ensured by a new foot and bike path, and a "passage prohibited" sign is set up in the turning hammer to ensure security. Weser Kurier reports on these measures.
The entire construction process is carried out in several phases. First, the construction of the new daycare center begins, which is said to be completed by March 2026. This is followed by the dismantling of the existing daycare center and then starting with the new primary school, the construction of which will be tackled in June 2026 and which is expected to be completed by December 2027. The move of the students from the mobile buildings on Willakedamm is then planned for the school year 2028/29. With the new three -storey, three -tier primary school, space is created for around 260 primary school children - a correct investment in the formation of our youngest!
joint efforts for education
The headmistress Silke Zimmermann and Uwe Kathmann from Kita Bremen emphasized the importance of networking with district initiatives and the values of the daycare center. This shows that the educational campus not only becomes a place of learning, but also a meeting point for the community. Education Senator Aulepp referred to the close cooperation of all actors involved, which leads to the implementation of this project. Education is a key to better opportunities for children, and therefore such projects are of crucial importance. The information from the Senate prove the comprehensive considerations that have been incorporated into the planning process. The development is now continued with the aim of shaping the educational campus as a future -luminous place for learning and community.
