BTS Neustadt: Trainer Fahlbusch draws sobering season balance!
Neustadt, Deutschland - The BTS Neustadt has a mixed season in the Bremen league. Finally standing in 11th place, coach Volker Fahlbusch draws a mixed conclusion and speaks of a not really successful season. The results in the final phase were a reflection of the season: After an exciting 3: 4 defeat against SV Werder III, important victories against Eiche Horn (3: 1) and Union 60 (5: 4), but also bitter setbacks against Blumenthaler SV (1: 4) and TS Woltmershausen (0: 3). In previous years, the team did better: 2024 were 9th place, 2023 to 7 and 2022 at least on 4.
Fahlbusch explains that the shortage of personnel did not lead to the risk of relegation, since the SC Vahr-Blockthdiek showed a weak performance with only 7 points in 30 games. "With almost 30 players, we had a larger and stronger squad that was able to compensate for injuries better," reports the coach. Nevertheless, the team kept suffering from important failures: Benjamin Lassalle and Martin Wegmann suffered shoulder corner joint blasting, Alessandro Rath fought with a broken wrist, and Rigo Ehresmann had to deal with a cruciate ligament tear. Fahlbusch also mentions "normal injuries" who plagued the team.
a changeable course of the season
The start of the season was promising with just one defeat from the first five games. At that time, the BTS Neustadt even showed a series of five unbeaten games and took 5th place. But the first round ended with the 7th place, which was soon endangered by four defeats before the winter break and two further defeats at the beginning of the new year. "The winter break was really bad," sums up Fahlbusch. Nevertheless, the team managed to secure the relegation in the final sprint with four wins from five games.
For the next season, the trainer is planning to start with experienced players such as Marco Rehling (34), Benjamin Lassalle (35), Marvin Warner (32), Lukas Karagiannidis (33) and Nico Zumbruch (31). Marcel Dörgeloh, also 34 years old, thinks about whether he wants to stay part of the team. In addition, Fahlbusch wants to integrate four to six A youth players into the first team. In his 20th season as a coach of the BTS Neustadt, Fahlbusch is characterized by his many years of experience as the oldest coach in the Bremen League and gives no chance. He still enjoys his work, but thinks about possible changes in the future.
The Bremen League at a glance
The Bremen league remains exciting. On June 4, 2025, important games were played that captivated the fans. A Highlight was the live ticker from Hemelingen against Schöningen, where Philipp Harant scored his 2nd goal of the season. The Hemelingen defense could not clarify this shot in the right corner-a disorder in the penalty area was cleverly used and hit the goal with force.
The coming season will be a big challenge for BTS Neustadt, but also an opportunity to clearly focus on your own goals. The experiences from this season could be as helpful as it is instructive.
