Father and son experience inclusive motorsport in the Kartcenter Emsbüren!

What does a father do who want to enable his son to drive away from the streets? Patrick Kujau from Bremen had a sparkling idea: In search of alternatives, he came across the inclusion initiative Indus (inclusion through sport) of the district sports association Emsland. He was particularly impressed by the diverse sports offers for people with disabilities in the region, and so he discovered the motorsport offer in the EMSBüren karting center.

In the Kart Center, a special card program is offered on an 870-meter racetrack for people with disabilities. There are two double seats, so -called twinkarts, as well as a converted kart for the hand control (gas and brake). These offers are an excellent opportunity for people with limited mobility to participate in motorsport and gain exciting experiences.

an exciting experience

Shortly before Pentecost, father and son made their way to Emsbüren. The friendly open recipient in the kart center immediately created a pleasant atmosphere. Mike, the son, was first excited, but quickly found trust and security. After a precise instruction in the racing rules, it was finally time: together they drove through the curves in the twinkart.

A very special highlight was practicing the start from the pole position, which Mike was allowed to do several times. Patrick was enthusiastic about the support and support of the team of the karting center. After a short break, Mike even ventured into the race alone and demonstrated his driving skills. The excursion ended happily with the prospect of an early repetition - the two are already planning a further visit to the Kart Center Emsbüren.

Inclusion in motorsport - an important step

The Kujau initiative is not alone; It is part of a larger trend in the motorsport world. Inclusion of people with disabilities is increasingly promoted, and not only in Emsbüren. The German Motorsport Bund has launched various programs to reduce the barriers in motorsport. The funding project "Promotion of inclusive motorsport" of the German Motorsport Youth, for example, supports non -profit organizations in the purchase or retrofitting of motorsport equipment and special training measures.

technological progress plays a central role in this. Innovative developments, such as the e-karts with a steer-by-wire system, ensure that people with restricted mobility can also take part in exciting racing events. Projects such as the "including e-kart slalom trophy" offer a competition that brings young people together with and without disabilities-a real treasure for the community.

However, there are challenges. Funding for special technologies and infrastructure in particular is often difficult. The need for sensitization and training of those responsible in motorsport is also a crucial point. You have to consider that inclusion is not only a question of technology, but also a social responsibility.

Inclusion in motorsport has the potential to become a model for other sports. The desire for equality for all people, regardless of their skills, grows. When the father and son enjoy karting in Emsbüren, they are not only part of this change, but also ambassadors of the inclusive spirit in the motorsport world.
