Ingrid Lahmann from Twistringen celebrates 100 years and is planning further adventures!
The joy was great when 100-year-old Ingrid Lahmann from Twistringen celebrated her day of honor on June 11, 2025. In the Bollweg house, not only residents and employees gathered, but also proud relatives and representatives of the city and church to honor this special moment. Ingrid was born in Bremen in 1925 - in the tense period of the Weimar Republic, which was not only characterized by political upheavals, but also by cultural renewal. The review of this era shows many facets: from the challenges of young democracy to the innovative impulses in the cinema, where classics such as "Metropolis" and "Nosferatu" saw the light of day, this was a time of upheaval and creativity.Ingrid's life story seems like a colorful picture book: grew up in the Bremen district of Gröpelingen, she attended elementary school and the higher commercial school. After her successful completion, she worked in the office until she met her first husband, Erich Waskowski during the Second World War. The two married in 1947 and received three children: Edgar, Marhild and Ulrike. After the early death of her husband in 1961, Ingrid faced her new reality without hesitation and provided her family independently. Ambition and perseverance characterize their life story, and the values of the Weimar Republic - with all their turbulent political challenges - form a historical framework.
a trip through the waves of the time
When the time went on, Ingrid moved to the world of work. In 1964 she began working in the household, followed by jobs at Krupps and the fire brigade Bremen, which made it possible for her to be a safe life. In 1971 she found luck again with Johannes Lahmann. The couple was able to take extensive trips to Olang in South Tyrol for 42 years. However, these lucky times did not last forever, and after the death of her second husband in 2008, Ingrid lived alone until she moved to Twistringen in 2018.
Ingrid's remarkable family comprises three children, ten grandchildren and seven great -grandchildren who are constantly standing aside. Her love for literature remains unbroken, and she always tries to remain informed about the current events. Once a week she visits day care in the house and actively participates in various activities. Her secret to a long life is simple: "Canding yourself, never giving up, fighting and continuing". On her day of honor, she promised to work on the next big goal of life - 105 years old. A big celebration in her family, in which children, grandchildren and great -grandchildren gather, is already planned for the coming Saturday.
a cultural context
The cultural currents of the Weimar Republic still leave traces today. Literature and art blossomed in this phase, whereby the political landscape should change dramatically. As the historian Ursula Bittner notes, the Weimar constitution is not only to be seen as the cause of crises, but is also recognized in its historical context, which leads to a differentiated picture of the time. The critical view of the society at that time gives insights into the tensions between the urban avant -garde and rural traditions that shaped social life.
The successes of the NSDAP in the final phase of this republic are often understood as a consequence of profound social changes. Ingrid Lahmann, too, there is not only a look at individual fates such as hers, but an understanding of how personal stories are closely interwoven with a significantly complex and often conflict -rich story. In the light of her 100 years, Ingrid remains a shining example of consistency and human will to assert himself despite all the challenges.
