Gold rush in the swimming festival: Lara Timme wins seven medals!
The 53rd Blumenthaler TV International Swimming Festival, which took place last weekend in the popular Fritz-Piaskowski-Bad in Bremen-Vegesack, provided numerous highlights despite the fact that there were no international guests for financial reasons. However, this restriction does not detract from the achievements of the talents who jumped into the pool, who showed lively participation with almost 1,400 entries. Norbert Geyer, the chief organizer of the event, expressed his satisfaction with the event and is already planning to expand it with Masters competitions next year.
The most successful swimmer in the competition was Lara Timme, born in 2008. She impressed with an incredible seven gold medals. Timme showed her strengths in various disciplines and particularly shone in the 100 meter freestyle with a time of 1:01.66 minutes. Here are some of her other outstanding achievements:
- 100 Meter Brust: 1:23,65 Minuten
- 50 Meter Freistil: 29,33 Sekunden
- 100 Meter Schmetterling: 1:10,36 Minuten
- 100 Meter Lagen: 1:12,60 Minuten
- 100 Meter Rücken: 1:09,85 Minuten
Talented swimmers in the spotlight
But it wasn't just Timme who was the focus: Johann Wurster (2008) and Lenya Gambalat (2006) also shone with four gold medals each. Among other things, Wurster excelled in the 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:05.93 minutes. Gambalat demonstrated his skills in the 100 meter freestyle, where he also climbed onto the podium with a time of 1:02.82 minutes.
Another thrill was the 100 meter butterfly final, in which Timme triumphed with a time of 1:07.62 minutes. The younger swimmers also showed remarkable results. Devin Schneider (2011) won three gold medals, including in the 100 meter freestyle with a time of 59.10 seconds.
Relay and team performances
An exciting aspect of the event was the relay ranking, where TSG HB 10 Bremen won gold in both mixed relays (4x50 meter freestyle and 4x50 meter individual medley). Jan Diercks (2000) from SG Aumund-Vegesack was also able to attract attention with gold in the 100 meter breaststroke (1:06.56 minutes).
Lukas Haßdenteufel (2012) delivered another great result with his four gold medals, while Nicholas Mehlhorn (2012) won three gold medals, including the 100 meter freestyle in 1:05.99 minutes. Maya Schywalsky (2012) also shone by finishing the 100 meter individual medley in 1:18.59 minutes.
Overall, the 53rd International Swimming Festival was a celebration of talent and an important event for swimming in Bremen. The athletes not only thrilled the spectators with their outstanding performances, but also set the course for future competitions in the region. Geyer is optimistic about the upcoming decisions of the Bremen Senate on the future of the Vegesacker Bad, which is considered an important location for such events.
