Bremen 1860: New plans after a missed season goal in rugby!
The Rugby season 2025 was an exciting chapter for the Bremen Association Bremen 1860, which started at the regional league north at high speed. Right from the start, the team achieved two identical victories against Hamburger RC II with a convincing 48: 7. But as so often in sport, the true strength is only shown at the end of a season.
At the end of the season, Bremen found himself in fourth place in the table in 1860 and thus missed his season goal, a place among the top three teams. The home game was also not untouched by setbacks, since the Bremeners had to accept a bitter defeat against Döhren (31:59) in the first half of the season. In the second half of the season, there were further difficulties when the team lost to competitors SV Odin Hannover and Hannover 78 II.
The final table
The end points of the season looks as follows:
Platz | team | Points Th> |
---|---|---|
1 | VfR 06 Döhren | 38 |
2 | SV Odin Hannover | 35 |
3 | Hannover 78 II | 35 |
4 | Bremen 1860 | 25 |
Head of department Bastian Steinborn found that Bremen unfortunately missed the connection to the leading teams in 1860. Many of these teams benefit from a wider pool of players. But despite these challenges there are bright spots in the team. Young talents such as Matthi's Flad, Niklas Prohn, Cedric Perret and Charles Armstrong have developed positively. Striker Jacob Feller also stood out with strong performances in the last season games.
Personnel changes and outlook
For the new season, fundamental personnel changes are pending at the association. Captain Alex Fraqueiro moves to Portugal, while Andrew Walsh and Roeds de Beer return to their homeland. Sören Müller, on the other hand, ends his active career, just like Mike Elliot Murray, who decides his career after 25 years in rugby. Trainer Michael Underwood changes to the youth area, which also blows fresh wind there.
To strengthen the team, newcomers have already been announced: Alvin Abuta and Savio Dominques strengthen the storm game, and Yuri Rybocha returns to the back team. Steinborn is optimistic that Bremen can play at the top again in 1860 in the coming season and do not lose any home games.
In addition, the future of cooperation with Union 60 remains in the suspension. Steinborn expressed the desire to continue to maintain and expand this partnership in order to offer new players the opportunity to gain first valuable experiences.
