Bremen talent in focus: Junior European Championships in Tallinn will start soon!
Hemelingen, Deutschland - The rhythmic sports gymnastics is a discipline that not only calls for skill, but also the elegance of the athletes. A total of six Bremen women represent Germany at the upcoming European Junior Championship, which begins on June 4 in the Estonian Tallinn. The athletes come from the renowned federal base in Bremen and are very motivated to leave their competition behind.
The team, consisting of Lina Reiswich, Anna-Lena Salokhina, Stella Quint, Anabel Anthi Nguyen, Viktorija Gatachin and Nayla Koppenstein-Trigo, trained hard for this event. The young talents are on the mat up to 40 hours a week. However, trainer Birgit Passers expresses a certain uncertainty about the unknown competition: "Many teams are unknown to us and Eastern Europe often has more training time, which could bring significant advantages," she explains.
trainers emphasize mental aspects
The supervisors are aware that the tournament not only brings with it physical but also mental challenges. Irina Hermanansky-Pfennig, one of the trainers, emphasizes the increased mental burden on the upcoming large tournaments. "It is important to cope with the pressure and at the same time enjoy the experience," she says. This topic is particularly relevant, because dealing with mental health is becoming increasingly decisive in the sports world. Although the focus is often on physical health, studies show that psychological challenges are often underestimated.
According to the Sports Physician newspaper, it is crucial that athletes are also mentally supported, especially in the youth and top area. Stressors such as injuries or failures can significantly influence their identity and personal development. The IOC Commission even identified 640 stressors that can endanger the mental and physical health of the athletes.
preparation for the European Championship
Before the European Championship, the Bremen women were able to gain experience in international competitions. So they took third place in Portugal and second place in Poland. These successes give the group the necessary self -confidence in order to move into the final of the top eight groups at the European Championship. The goal is clear and the excitement is fully noticeable.
With 21 other participating nations, the competition in Tallinn becomes hard. The athletes know that they have to do their best to assert themselves against the international professionals. The entire team and the trainers put great hopes in this competition.
How the Bremen group will beat remains to be seen. One thing is certain: you have done your best, will present your skills on the international stage and inspire the audience with your achievements. We wish you every success and keep our fingers crossed!
