SV Hemelingen in the DFB Cup: Duel against Wolfsburg with big goals!

The anticipation for the DFB Cup game is increasing in Bremen! SV Hemelingen, currently extremely motivated after an impressive 6-0 win against Sebaldsbrück at the start of the Bremen League, is preparing for the special duel against first division club VfL Wolfsburg. Coaching duo Günter Tuncel and Feyhat Tuncel, in office since December 2012, are aware of the challenges that lie ahead and are still optimistic about the game.

The draw for the DFB Cup meant that Hemelingen was drawn as the penultimate team and can now compete with Wolfsburg. Captain Marcel Pfaar had already expressed his desire to play against Lower Saxony. There was correspondingly great joy when the spectators at Bremen's market square and in Café Beck's watched the draw and cheered on the game against the Bundesliga club. Despite the class difference, coach Tuncel is aware of the challenge, but approaches the matter with determination and wants to keep the clean sheet for as long as possible and represent the team in the best possible way.

A market full of possibilities

The first main round of the DFB Cup will take place from August 15th to 18th. There are numerous options for the venue, with the Weserstadion, Delmenhorst and Oldenburg being considered. Pfaar, meanwhile, favors the Weserstadion, but knows the advantages of Oldenburg. A total of 64 teams take part in the major competition of the DFB Cup, which was founded in 1935 and is considered one of the most important knockout competitions in German football, including all Bundesliga clubs. Hemelingen not only sees itself faced with a big task, but can also hope for the chance to make a name for itself and benefit financially from this encounter.

Board member Heinz Mahnke has already set the course to invest the expected six-figure income from the DFB Cup in promotion to the regional league and in the professionalization of the first men's team. A crowdfunding campaign was launched to raise an additional €50,000, of which over €5,000 has already been received. These funds are intended to help improve the sporting structures and take the club to the next level.

Everything on analysis

Coach Tuncel attaches great importance to preparing the team well and began analyzing Wolfsburg's friendly games in July. He is also aware that the wolves themselves have been watching Hemelingen. Nevertheless, he sees it as positive that Wolfsburg takes his club seriously. This seriousness is also reflected in the opponent's preparations.

The DFB Cup game against Wolfsburg is not only a sporting highlight for SV Hemelingen, but also an opportunity to make a name for itself in the football landscape and get the team noticed by the general public. Even though Clinton Helmdach, the Lotto Cup scorer, is expected to miss out, there is enough motivation for the team to make the most of this opportunity and take on the challenge with heart and fighting spirit. So there is a lot to be excited about in the Hanseatic city!
