Tax notices: Lower Saxony becomes faster, Bremen stays behind!
The tax offices in Lower Saxony changed during the processing time for tax notices during 2024. A study by the Federation of Taxpayers (BDSt) shows that the average processing time for the year of assessment 2023 is now 44.4 days. This means a gratifying decline by almost 10 days compared to 2023, where tax notices still took an average of almost 54 days. In comparison, Bremen has the penultimate place in the ranking with an average processing time of 52.8 days and is therefore well above the average of Lower Saxony. In Bremerhaven, the waiting time is 31 days, whereas Bremen has one of the longest processing times in Germany, only exceeded from Saarland with 53.8 days. In detail, it can be seen that the tax office Braunschweig-Wilhelmstraße has the fastest processing times in Lower Saxony, with only 33 days. On the other hand, the Buchholz tax office in the Nordheide controls the longest processing time in Lower Saxony with 62 days.
