Architecture highlight: 30 years of architecture in Lower Saxony!

On Sunday, June 29, 2025, the time has come again: The 30th day of architecture in Lower Saxony and Bremen invites the population to look behind the scenes of remarkable construction projects. This milestone of the architectural events is all about inventory conversion under the motto "Further further building". Over 50 places present a whopping 99 projects, so that those interested in architecture will get their money's worth. The number of visitors is always high and show the lively interest in this event. Robert Marlow, President of the Chamber of Architects Lower Saxony, emphasizes the increasing importance of building culture in times of climate crisis and resource shortage.

The roots of the event go back to 1996 when it started with 43 objects. Now, almost three decades later, one can say: something really happened! It is particularly striking that for the first time at this year's edition, the number of existing conversions that the new buildings exceeds for the first time. Let's take a look at some highlights of the event in Hanover and the surrounding area.

architecture projects in the focus

In Hanover, the day of architecture is celebrated with impressive projects such as the Enercity Group Center. This 6-storey office building, designed by architect Stephan Zemmrich, is considered the largest passive house in northern Germany. Important features such as a light -flooded atrium and a health center make the building a modern place of work with special attention to sustainability. In addition, the former company in the 22-storey office tower in the IHME center was made happy until September 2023.

Another highlight offers the Wasserstadt Limmer, where the residential building Julienne-Trouet-Platz 27, completed in 2023, can be visited. Two apartment buildings were realized here, which offer a total of 54 residential units. The design is based on commercially used masonry buildings of the Conti-Limmer and is looked after by Oliver Matziol. Background tours are offered by Günter Papenburg AG.

insights into the building culture

The day of architecture takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and gives interesting insights into design processes and design decisions through tours with architects and builders. Particularly gratifying: For the event there is a free brochure with information on the objects and the program, which is available from the Lower Saxony Chamber of Architects.

Exciting innovations are also available with the integration of the "Women in Architecture" festival that makes contributions to the event for the first time. A lead event under the title "Architecture period" will also take place on June 14, 2025 and include some interesting offers such as lectures, exhibitions and bike tours. And as if that weren't enough, Stephan Weil, the former Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, as in the past, takes over the patronage.

If you want to learn more about the architecture projects, you can on the websites of point-linden , Tag-der-architektur and Aknds and increase the anticipation to the big day! It remains exciting and it will show what the architecture world has to offer.
