In the night from 9th to July 10, 2025, there was a fire in an unused holiday complex in the Meeschendorf district on Fehmarn. At around 00:15 a.m., several witnesses became aware of the fire and alerted the fire brigade. This was able to quickly control the fire that raged on the first floor of an empty apartment complex on the street to the sea beach. Fortunately, everyone remained unharmed, but there were considerable building damage.
