Grünhagen-Cup 2025: Sailing fun with legendary Weser dinghies!

Obervieland, Deutschland - Bremen sailing enthusiasts be careful: The Grünhagen-Cup ensures a breath of fresh air on the Weser! This traditional regatta, which goes back to the popular Weser dinghies, brings together both experienced sailors and interested spectators. The specialty of these dinghies, which are also known as Grünhagen-dinghy , lies in their creation: They were designed by Ferdinand Grünhagen, a Bremen entrepreneur, in 1907 and are tailored to the coastal and river floods. The entry into the event was organized by Alexander Skalicky from the Weser Yacht Club Bremen last year, and a lot has happened since then [Weser KURIER] (https://www.weserkurier.de/bremen/stadtteil-oberandand/gruenhagen-cup-auer-bremer-weser-seltene-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen-jollen

The first edition of the Grünhagen Cup took place as part of the Ochtum Regatta, and it quickly turned out that the event met with great interest. The "Älskling" grabbed the first hiking trophy, and the foundation stone was laid for an exciting series of competition. The second Grünhagen Cup, which recently took place at the Oberweser Segelverein, had to master some challenges: Due to a defective sports boat lock, the participants started somewhat bumpy. Nevertheless, five dinghies found their way into the race, with the regatta route a total of four nautical miles (about 7.5 kilometers) dimension Fky.

At the regatta, the boats "Älskling", "buddy", "get the nich up", "trout" and "stint". The “stint” in particular had to deal with technical problems and had to watch from the beach. Here the handicap rules came into play, and so the "trout" was able to emerge as the winner. The pride of the participants was still great, because the diversity and the clasic of these dinghy not only attract experienced sailors, but also newcomers. "We are already looking forward to the next cup, the crew of the" stint "is already planning to fix their problems until then!" If you are interested in these unique boats, you will find a home in the Weser Segel Association. The association recently bought a 5.5 m long Grünhagen Weserjolle to preserve the legacy of these special boats. The "stint", according to the name of the new Jolle, joins the already restored "trout". Both boats have an exciting story: The "Stint" was made in 1952 and experienced many changes of ownership before she came into the hands of the association Segel Association Weser.

preservation of the Weser Jollen

In the age of modern sailing boats, the charm and joie de vivre of the Weser dinghies remains unbroken. They were created over 100 years ago, they have kept themselves to this day, although many were lost due to the consequences of war and a lack of restoration. The Weser Segel Association makes remarkable efforts to restore and keep these boats. Thanks to numerous donations and committed members, the restoration of the "stint" was successfully carried out, so that it is now ready to drive the waves of the Weser.

If you have a greenhagen dinghy or are interested in sailing, there are many ways to join. Alexander Skalicky and the members of the Weser Yacht Club look forward to new faces and fresh ideas! And maybe we will see one or the other new participant on the water at the next edition of the Grünhagen Cup!
