Summer construction site chaos in Bremen: traffic jams and detours threaten!

Obervieland, Deutschland - Summer time in Bremen and Bremerhaven is just around the corner and brings numerous construction sites with it as usual. The first traffic jams can already be expected in the city, especially at the beginning of the holidays. Drivers and commuters have to adjust to diversions, for example in the track construction work in the East Bremen and in Huchting. These measures are part of a larger plan to improve the infrastructure, as reported butunbinnen.de.

One of the largest construction sites that all road users should have in mind is the Weser current bridge. Here is a comprehensive repair by 2028, which will significantly affect the traffic between Arsten and Hemelingen. From August 8th, only two traces will be available per direction and the road users will have to adjust to a lane laying. This change is valid until the end of 2027.

full closures and diversions

In the Hastedt/eastern suburb, the intersection Bennigsenstraße/Georg-Bitter-Straße/Hastedter Heerstraße/at the three piles has been completely closed since mid-June. This measure is expected to continue until early 2026 and will lead to increased traffic volume - especially at peak times. Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists have to follow various diversions. Bus lines, such as lines 10 and N10, are also affected and were diverted, so that replacement traffic between the Weserwehr and Sebaldsbrück was set up. In Sebaldsbrück/Hemelingen, the Sebaldsbrücker Heerstraße will be fully blocked by the end of September due to the renewal of a railway transfer.

The Huchtinger also have to adjust to the tram construction of lines 1 and 8. Line 1 should go into operation by Central Huchting by 2026, while line 8 to Weyhe is to be completed by 2027. The construction sites on Heinrich-Plett-Allee and the Kirchhuchtinger Landstrasse cause a lot of traffic, but the Roland Center remains available.

construction sites in Bremerhaven

Not only Bremen has construction sites on offer. In Bremerhaven there are also traffic jams and diversions. Particularly noteworthy is the Wulsdorf motorway exit on the A27, where the new construction work on the Autobahn Bridge will continue until the end of July. At the Weserstraße/Lindenallee junction, long -term restrictions are announced due to renovation work. The Melchior-Schwoon-Straße in Lehe will be closed until the end of August, and Pestalozzistraße is also affected due to road and canal work.

In addition, work is carried out on the district heating lines on Friedrich-Ebert Straße, Elbestraße and Ludwigstrasse until August.

call to participate

While the city is busy with all these construction sites, the Office for Roads and Transport (ASV) calls on citizens to actively participate in the safety and reliability of the Bremen road network. Local residents who are local in Bremen or whose transport in Bremen begins must contact ASV to issue permits. The average processing time for these permits is currently about two weeks. Using an online form, citizens can report road damage as well as defects or damage to street furniture. Further information and contacts can be found directly on the website of the ASV Bremen.

Even those who are interested in the working method of the ASV employees can gain interesting insights into the varied everyday work, because the office regularly reports on the diversity of their tasks.
