Stau-alarm to the Pentecost weekend: Motorists have to prepare for themselves!

The Whitsun weekend is just around the corner and with it a huge vehicle storm rolls towards the highways of Germany. From June 6th to June 10th, the experts from Autobahn GmbH expect one of the most busiest weekends of the year around Pentecost. LOCKALKLICK.EU warns that drivers from federal states such as Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen and Lower Saxony in particular have to expect increased traffic on Tuesday, since there is no school. Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria also start a two-week holiday season, which brings additional travelers on the streets.

The most feared times are Friday afternoon, June 6th, and Saturday morning, June 7th. Significant traffic jams are particularly expected on the main traffic routes. On Whit Monday, June 9th, it is expected to be closely on the highways, followed by regional return travel on Tuesday. The ADAC adac.de recommends travelers to prepare and start early to bypass the traffic jams.

orientation in traffic jam chaos

Where is it getting tight? The traffic jam card identifies numerous danger spots on the highways, especially on heavily frequented routes such as the A1, A3, A5 and A7. On June 6th, some sections of the route will also be temporarily blocked due to construction work. The A42 between Bottrop-Süd and Essen-Nord is closed for all traffic from 10 p.m. to June 16 at 5 a.m. Other construction sites affect the A45 near Lüdenscheid, where traffic stands still due to the replacement new building of the Talbrücke Rahmede, and the A43, which is expanded on six lanes. swp.de adds that the access roads on the North and Baltic Sea could also be affected.

In order to minimize the stress while driving, it is advisable to check the current traffic situation, restart and plan enough breaks before the journey. Anyone who observes the dynamic directions on the motorways and forms a rescue alley at traffic jams is on the safe side. The fines for not compliance with the rules can be up to 320 euros.

on good planning it depends

The best thing to do is to go on Thursday morning, June 5th. If you travel on the traditionally heavily frequented days, you should consider additional travel time. Sunday, June 8th, is recommended as the best day of travel. Above average waiting times can also be expected on the international streets, especially at the border crossings to Austria, Italy and Switzerland, which have been increasingly checked since May.

The Autobahn GmbH offers an overview of all important information on travel planning on your website and in the app, so that travelers are always up to date. If you do it wise, you could combine this travel period with a positive experience and skillfully bypass the traffic jams!
