CO2 pistol in Rotensee: 48-year-old overturns 21-year-olds!

Rotensee, Deutschland - A dark-skinned Thursday showed its dark sides in Rotensee when a 48-year-old man used a CO₂ pistol in a brazen attack on a 21-year-old driver. At 10:55 a.m., while the young man was just parking his Ford Transit Custom, the perpetrator approached and demanded the vehicle key with a weapon. What started like an ordinary morning quickly developed into a dangerous game when the 48-year-old escaped with the company car towards the town center, as tixio.de reported

The police did not allow themselves to be asked for long and received the crucial indication shortly after the incident. As early as 11:15 a.m., the alleged perpetrator was arrested without resistance in the Rotenser Weg. In the vehicle, the emergency services found the CO₂ pistol that the man had used to threaten. When arrested, it turned out that the perpetrator was alcoholic, which resulted in a blood sample. After a brief clarification of the circumstances, however, it was released again because there was no reason for prison. Now the man has to be responsible for heavy robbery and violation of the weapons law, whereby the investigation into the background of the incident continues. This was also reported Osthessen-News .

weapon crime on the agenda

The incident is part of a worrying trend in arms crime, which has had a worrying increase in Germany and the EU for years. According to the current Bundeslagild Waffencrimality alone were recorded 36,056 last year. This corresponds to a slight decline compared to the previous year, but the trend shows a worrying increase in threats with firearms.

The number of threats to firearms has increased continuously since 2021. In 2024, more than 9,460 cases were registered, which forces the police to become more attention in this area. These developments raise questions, in particular with regard to internal security in Germany, which is acutely threatened by such incidents.

It remains to be hoped that the current attack in Rotensee will not only remain an isolated affair, but can finally lead to a rethink in dealing with weapons and increased prevention. The citizens are more called to be vigilant and to immediately contact the police in the event of dangerous situations.
