Boniface struggles with fitness: Werder Bremen relies on individual plans!
SV Werder Bremen has signed a talented striker, Victor Boniface, who is currently struggling with health challenges. Since moving from Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Boniface has struggled to find his old form again. Despite numerous opportunities to play in the first games against teams like Gladbach, Freiburg, Bayern and St. Pauli, he was denied a goal in just 84 minutes of playing time. The main issue appears to be his fitness, which is complicated by previous injury problems and a body weight above ideal. Especially after two cruciate ligament tears, this is an additional strain on his knees, as those responsible at the club emphasize.
In order to best support Boniface, the club has taken a number of measures. Trainer Horst Steffen explains that, in addition to individual athletic training and physiotherapy, nutrition also plays a central role. “Nutrition is important for all players,” said Steffen, who mentioned implementing an individual nutrition plan for Boniface. As part of this, a nutritionist was hired to specifically look after players like Boniface. The main pillars of nutritional advice are the food-first strategy and the careful selection of nutrients, paying attention to carbohydrates, proteins and sufficient fluids. A balanced diet not only supports performance during training, but also regeneration during the season.
Commitment and team spirit
Although Boniface's progress has so far fallen short of expectations, he shows great commitment and identification with the team. He decided not to take a day off last weekend and instead trained additionally to give his body the input it needed. Steffen emphasizes that patience is required, as quick improvements cannot be expected. “We are working together on his problems,” says Clemens Fritz, the head of professional football, confirming the close cooperation between the player and the support team.
The support Boniface receives also seems to help him mentally. He looked after younger players, which was perceived very positively in the team. This also shows how important team spirit and solidarity are in professional football. The fans and the club are all the more excited to see when Boniface can give his form the decisive impetus and we will soon see him on the pitch in his usual splendor.
A look into the future
The next few weeks will be crucial for Boniface. Werder Bremen's coaching and support team will do everything in their power to bring him to a productive level. “There is no reason to give up,” Steffen is convinced. With the right resources, a high level of motivation and a supportive environment, Victor Boniface could soon be back on the pitch - ready to score his goals and support the team in the fight for points.
