Bremen is fighting against unemployment: 38 million for integration!

Something is happening in Bremen: The social authorities have taken it upon themselves to develop their own strategy to integrate the long-term unemployed into the labor market. The measures are aimed primarily at population groups affected by poverty and social exclusion. This important initiative was recently presented to the working deputation of the Bremen citizenship buten and within reported. Up to 38 million euros are planned for this in the budget plans for the next two years to enable targeted job placement.

A key goal of these measures is not only to support the long-term unemployed, but also to recruit and retain skilled workers for Bremen and Bremerhaven. It is clear that the regional labor market must be well served in order to do justice to the growing new immigration, especially from EU countries and crisis regions. According to that Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs In 2018, around 20.8 million people with a migrant background lived in Germany, which means that around a quarter of the population should be integrated in this way.

Challenges of integration

The unemployment rate among people with a migrant background is almost twice as high as among those without a migrant background. Language difficulties, lower qualifications and unrecognized qualifications are often the underlying factors, which make integration into the labor market more difficult. In order to counteract these challenges, the Federal Ministry supports various programs to support migrants and their descendants, which are crucial for successful integration.

Tailored measures and training for job centers, companies and educational institutions are intended to improve access to jobs and training. This level-based commitment underlines that society faces major challenges and at the same time needs to find solutions.

In summary, it can be said that with this new strategy, Bremen is taking an important step in the integration of long-term unemployed and migrants in order to strengthen social cohesion and activate the potential skilled workers in the region. We can only hope that the city's commitment bears the desired fruit.
