Fewer boats, more team spirit: Bremer company rowing in 2025 in focus!

Bremen, Deutschland - On Saturday the 14th edition of the Rudorag will take place in Bremen, an event that not only stimulates the competition spirit, but also promotes teamwork between the employees of various companies. However, the number of participants noticeably decreases this year: instead of the 44 boats from the previous year, only 23 boats will start. Weser-Kurier Renowned shipyard Lürssen is traditionally participating in this event and has already won some victories in the past.

The organizer Klaus Hartstock, however, sees the positive side of the situation: "A smaller starter field slow down the process and relieves the organization," says Hartstock. In the past, the row of corporations enjoyed steadily growing popularity, with the first discontinuation of 25 teams in 2012. Registrations increased up to record numbers in the previous year.

new rules and formats

This year the boats start every five minutes, which is a welcome change from the two-minute cycle of the previous year. The teams are made up of various industries, including IT, mechanical engineering and sustainable companies, and their compilation aims to strengthen communication and cooperation between the company departments.

Particularly gratifying: The winning teams are honored with individual trophies instead of winning a challenge cup. This was introduced to avoid frustration among the female teams and to offer them an equivalent incentive. The regatta, which is held on the 350-meter long route, is not only a competition, but also serves as a team education measure.

  • categories: men's, women and mixed teams
  • competition mode: preliminary runs, hope runs, semi -finals and finals

Team building and corporate interaction

The preparations were intense. In the weeks before the event, the teams are coached by experienced tax men and tax women to improve their rudder skills and strengthen team dynamics. Coaching is a central component of the event and shows how very good teamwork is required and also encouraged.

The Bremen Ruder Association from 1882 (BRV) has set itself the goal of inspiring people for rowing and gaining new members. This initiative has already delivered fruitful results: Last year, a team from the Bremen IT company HMMH joined the club, which underlines the strong connection between sporting activities and corporate culture ( BRV ).

rowing has a long tradition in Germany and is more than just a sport. The roots go back to the founding meeting of the German Rowing Association, which took place on March 18, 1883 in Cöln ( rudern.de ). This history gives the event a special note and shows how important the community and cooperation are in rowing.
