But that's not all. Enercity and real estate Bremen have ambitious plans for expanding the district heating network. Further buildings are to follow, but they are not specifically named. But one thing is certain: the routes are to be massively expanded. The current section extends over three kilometers with the vision to extend it to triple in the coming years. The aim is to secure heat supply not only in schools, but also in public buildings and residential areas. Enercity contracting relies on unused waste heat from the heating power plant in Bremen-Blumenthal, which ensures a climate-friendly and resource-friendly solution.
The premiere of the district heating supply is particularly important, since according to a specialist report created by Qoncept Energy GmbH, around 34% of the heat requirement in Bremen could be covered by such systems. The prerequisite for this is the expansion of around 300 route kilometers. Currently, only 13% of the needs could be covered without these measures. This change is not only important for schools and urban institutions, but also has a far -reaching economic and ecological effect on the city. Bremen therefore speaks of a real warm-turn , and the initiatives are diverse. For example, the SWB group is planning a local heating network in the front Neustadt by using heat from the Weser with river heat pumps.
A look into the future
