Behind the scenes: This is how parcel delivery works in Bremen-Nord!

In the heart of Bremen-Nord, in the new delivery base in Burgdamm, the postal service is busy again this morning. The first delivery of 35 fully loaded roll containers arrived shortly before 6 a.m. and the employees began diligently preparing the various shipments for their deliveries. It's not just letters, but also parcels, large envelopes, catalogs, advertising mail and newspapers that are painstakingly sorted by hand, reports the Weser courier.

Even the experienced delivery man Leszek Molak, 63 years old, will be out and about in Aumund on his street scooter after sorting. He explains that his tour often includes heavily laden packages: dog food, car parts and gardening tools are among the typical shipments. Each package is recorded with a hand scanner to keep track of everything.

A look behind the scenes

Site manager Mandy Hilbert is proud of her team of 102 employees, of which between 53 and 60 come to work every day. In the last three years, the delivery base has seen an increase in career changers from a variety of professions, including a former saleswoman and even a driving school instructor. Silke Sinnermann in particular, who has been working as a delivery person for 13 years and was formerly a masseuse, shows that there are numerous career opportunities in the postal service without a traditional background. The mentoring program and individual induction plans are particularly valued, as well Postal jobs reported.

Working conditions have improved significantly. The new, ground-floor, energy-efficient building with a photovoltaic system and heat pump offers employees plenty of space - a real benefit for everyone. The vehicle fleet also includes 33 electric vehicles and 11 combustion engines, and the trend is clearly towards sustainability. It is good that delivery vehicles are also becoming more environmentally friendly.

Diverse career opportunities for career changers

The opportunities for career changers in the postal delivery service are diverse and are very popular. Jobs in logistics, administration or IT are also in demand, as is the case Logistikplatz.de shows. There are numerous offers here for people who are ready to take responsibility and roll up their sleeves. Practical experience is often valued more than a formal degree, and entry-level opportunities are numerous and varied.

There are also a number of benefits for career changers: a salary starting at €17.60/hour gross, 28 days of vacation and various health programs are just some of the benefits that can be expected. The flexible working hours, which also include part-time models, are a particular plus point for many.

The Swiss Post really has a good knack for meeting the increased need for delivery people in the logistics industry. With approximately 122,760 letters and 22,557 freight shipments per week distributed by 102 delivery agents in the Vegesack, Burglesum and Ritterhude areas, there is no reason to be lethargic about the need to hire new, motivated employees.

With the new delivery base in Burgdamm and the diverse career opportunities, the postal service shows that it can not only deliver packages, but also opportunities for anyone who wants to reorient themselves professionally.
