Delivery room modernization in Bremen-Nord: More comfort for expectant parents!
There's a lot happening in Bremen-Nord for expectant parents! The Klinikgesellschaft Gesundheit Nord (Geno) is planning a comprehensive modernization of the women's clinic at the Bremen-Nord Clinic. Around 2.3 million euros will be used to not only renovate the delivery room, but also to significantly expand it. This is reported by the Weser courier.
This project focuses in particular on obstetric capacities and comfort for pregnant women. In the future, there will be five birth rooms and two additional birth preparation rooms, which can also serve as birth rooms if necessary. This is particularly important as the delivery room was previously designed to accommodate 1,800 births annually, but numbers have recently increased sharply - 992 births by July 2023 and 1,805 in 2022.
Modernization and new structures
The renovation work will begin soon, but maternity care will remain in place during this time. There will only be restrictions between August 16th and 21st, as the delivery room will be moved to an interim delivery room in the Internal Medicine department. Four fully equipped delivery rooms are available here. The interim has similar facilities to the existing delivery room, including a birthing tub and a “be-up” birthing room that offers freedom of movement.
A look into the future
Completion of the new delivery room is scheduled for the end of 2026. During this time, around 40 midwives will work at the Bremen-Nord Clinic to ensure that expectant parents have a safe and pleasant birth experience in the years to come.
