Weserjungs celebrate 20 years of social commitment: focus on charity campaigns!
In the Bremen district of Vegesack, the Weserjungs team, which was founded as a fun group in 2007, is now an active action team for social issues. The group, which consists of eleven members, has made it its mission to support various social projects and enrich the community. They come to help not only with monetary donations, but also with active commitment.
Among the many activities organized by the Weserjungs, the curling cup stands out. This central event not only brings sport and fun, but also sees the team actively involved as referees. The group also runs an annual Christmas charity campaign, which has been organized in collaboration with AG Lindenstraße since 2016. With an average of around 2,500 euros per year, the campaign's income supports numerous social projects, e.g. institutions such as the Lilge Simon Foundation, the youth of the Vegesack Volunteer Fire Department and various kindergartens.
Active support of the community
The Weserjungs team recently handed over a donation of 222 euros to the North Bremen Clean up your City group. According to Katja Butgereit, the group's leader, this donation will be used to purchase children's pliers and children's vests. The aim is to actively collect rubbish with the children and thus raise awareness of cleanliness. In addition, the Weserjungs cleared the Vegesacker Stadtgarten of garbage and removed cigarette butts, creating an improved environment for the residents.
A highlight is already just around the corner: the next Christmas charity campaign will take place on December 5th and 6th. The income flows back into social projects that benefit the community. The team will also be active again in the upcoming campaign to repair the playhouses at the Ulrichs Helgen children's and family center on May 24th and show that they have a good hand for social issues.
A look into the future
The Weserjungs team also plans to cooperate with other clubs in order to strengthen the collective impact. A big celebration to celebrate the 20th anniversary is already being prepared for July 2027. Through the regular activities and the variety of collaborations, the group not only remains active, but also becomes an example for other charitable initiatives in Bremen-Nord.
In today's world, when community work and social responsibility go hand in hand, the Weserjungs are sending a strong message that even small groups can achieve great things. Their commitment shows that you can make a lot of difference in your own neighborhood if you work together and support each other.
