Borgfeld in a noise emergency: youth parties cause excitement!
Things are simmering in Borgfeld: The advisory board has dealt intensively with the problems caused by excessive youth parties in the neighborhood. This is a vexing issue, especially for local residents. The neighboring residential areas, where up to 50 young people gather, are particularly affected by complaints about noise, damage to property, garbage and graffiti. The Schoolpad street has become a focal point, where seniors in the foundation village report harassment and noise levels.
At the same time, the advisory board unanimously decided to demand more financial resources for the Bremen Association for Outreach Youth Work (Vaja). This initiative aims to reach young people in public spaces through targeted social work measures and to provide them with low-threshold offers. Finn Herzig from the Youth Forum sees excessive alcohol consumption as the central cause of the problems and advocates moving the meetings to isolated locations in order not to further disturb the residents.
Need for solutions
The discussion about the problem is also viewed with concern by the residents and the contact police officer Bernhild Pakheiser. The latter calls for moral courage from parents and young people in order to improve the situation. The sale of alcohol and tobacco to under-18s through small kiosks, which also makes the parties possible, is also criticized. These aspects are at the center of the current debate about the responsibility of everyone involved.
A further impetus came from SPD spokesman Bernd Stenner's demand to include neighboring districts in the discussion, which could bring more voices and perspectives into the search for solutions. However, the current CDU application to provide staff for the DRK-Freizi was postponed despite the unanimous application because the financial resources were considered insufficient. This rejection by the SPD and Greens reflects the challenges facing local politics in the region.
Leisure activities and social perspectives
The leisure behavior of young people is complex. According to current studies on leisure activities, young people today spend a lot of time with digital media; this is an integral part of their lives. Nevertheless, analogue activities also play an important role, especially for different groups of young people. For around 50% of queer young people, creative activities such as painting and writing are important. This diversity in leisure activities shows that it is important to create appropriate offers in order to take the needs of the younger generation into account.
In this context, the Community rejects the neglect of outreach youth work, which ensures the integration of young people into better social structures. Through group work and individual help, specialists can provide important impulses to moderate conflicts and offer individual help. Awareness of gender-sensitive approaches is particularly important. These issues were asked and discussed intensively, with everyone involved ultimately working towards a solution that does justice to both the young people and the residents.
The developments in Borgfeld will continue to be monitored and documented because the challenges are clear. It is up to the local community to work towards a positive change in the situation and to develop solutions together. Further information can be found in the Weser-Kurier, while the importance of outreach youth work should not be underestimated. The current figures on leisure activities also provide valuable insights into the living environment of young people. Together it is important to set the course for a better future.
