Disney Adventure: Gigantic cruise ship reaches Bremerhaven!
The “Disney Adventure” reached the port city of Bremerhaven on September 9, 2025 and is now moored on the historic Columbuskaje. With an impressive length of 342 meters and a gross tonnage of 208,000, this magnificent ship is the largest cruise ship ever built in Germany. The Disney Group paid a whopping 40 million euros to take over the construction project after the original company, Genting Hong Kong, had to file for bankruptcy. Construction began in 2018 at the MV shipyards in Wismar, and after the acquisition, Disney continued the projects that were completed in Wismar last week.
The next night the “Disney Adventure” will be transferred to the Lloyd Werft in Kaiserhafen. There she will be further equipped before she can go on her first test drive lasting several days next month. This work is expected to take about a month, after which the ship will remain in Bremerhaven until mid-October.
Creative design and diverse theme worlds
There is plenty of fun and entertainment on board the “Disney Adventure”. In total, the ship can accommodate over 9,200 people, including 6,700 guests and 2,500 crew members. The cabins are spread over more than 2,200 guest cabins. The newest attraction is particularly surprising: a 250-meter-long roller coaster that can be found in the “Marvel Landing” area, as well as seven different themed worlds based on popular Disney film series.

The conversion of the ship is said to have cost around one billion euros, bringing the total costs to around 2.5 billion euros. Originally the construction costs were supposed to be 1.5 billion euros. A handover to the Disney Cruise Line is scheduled for October 13, 2025. The ship will then travel across the Atlantic to Singapore, where there are plans for stops in New York City, Nassau and Port Canaveral. On the way there you will also pass the famous Panama Canal.
With all of these exciting aspects in sight, the “Disney Adventure” will not only make the hearts of Disney fans beat faster, but also strengthen Bremerhaven as an important location for the cruise industry.
