Record attendance at Borgfeld shooting festival: new kings crowned!

In Borgfeld, the Schützenfest became a true feast for the senses that brought the local community together. The Borgfeld Rifle Guild proudly presents its new royal family: Michael Horn was proclaimed king, while his wife Melanie Horn holds the title of Ladies' Laurel Queen. A very special highlight is the son Maximilian Horn, who was once again crowned as student king. The proclamation took place in the festival tent and marked the ceremonial conclusion of a four-day festival that will remain unforgettable for everyone involved.

As befits a large folk festival, the number of visitors was impressive. Around 1,800 guests streamed through the festival tents on Friday and Saturday also boasted 1,300 visitors. A new entry and security concept proved successful and ensured that everyone could celebrate safely. A tent for the older generation, which was offered for the first time and was very well received, was particularly appreciated.

Tradition meets modern festival fun

The shooting festival in Borgfeld has established itself as the largest of its kind within the Osterholz district shooting association. The traditional parade, which took place on Sunday, attracted around 800 participants and was accompanied by seven musical parades. The festival was supported by numerous volunteers, including the fire department and SC Borgfeld, as well as committed sponsors.

The individual competitions, including shooting at the torso of the wooden eagle, took place quickly. For the men and women, the shooting lasted less than an hour. Special honors were given, including to Vice Queen Doris Kühn, Viceroy Nilas Christoph, Junior Queen Mathilda Kühmstedt and Youth Queen Helene Hilken. Marius Meyer secured the title of People's Rifleman King, while Luis Kremsler was celebrated as Youth People's King.

A celebration for the whole family

The festival began with the traditional beer tapping by King Egon Evers on Friday, August 22nd. With musical performances from “Music Station” and “Zelt 66” under the motto “Le Schü Part 1”, visitors can ring in the festival right away. In addition, the lantern parade on Friday evening was filled with children's beaming eyes, which marched off from Schützenplatz at 8 p.m.

Saturday was all about shooting, with exciting competitions taking place in the hall on Hamfhofsweg from 2 p.m. The program included a colorful family celebration in the marquee and the proclamation of the new royal family, which was celebrated on Monday evening at 8 p.m. The royal ball with the band Just4you invited everyone from Borgfelder to celebrate together.

Overall, the shooting festival in Borgfeld not only offered space for traditions, but also for modern celebrations with family and friends. Association President Hartmut Suhling praised the shooting guild's excellent work with young talent. “Volunteering is the engine of our society,” said Jacob de Felice, who emphasized the importance of volunteering and called for change.

An all-round successful celebration that released a lot of positive energy and the anticipation for next year can already be felt. Shooting festivals have a long tradition in our region and are much more than just a competition - they are an important part of social life and culture, as the Wikipedia describes.
