The return of Michael Willemsen is exciting news for the Club zur Vahr! After 13 years, the experienced trainer and athlete is returning to his roots. Robert Frisinger, the club's department head, is pleased with this personnel decision. Willemsen was active in the club's youth department until 2012 and collected several German championship titles during this time. He then gained experience in Hanover and Hamburg. At Hannover 78, where he last worked, Willemsen led the men's team back to the regional league. These successes speak for themselves and are clear evidence of his excellent reputation as a qualified and FIH trainer, which is also internationally recognized.

The aim is to promote young talent and at the same time strengthen the existing teams.

Challenges for the men's team

The men's team at Club zur Vahr is under pressure. After five games in the new season, the team has only one win and is in sixth place out of eight teams. The defeat against Harvestehuder THC II with 2:8 was particularly painful, followed by another setback when they lost against UHC Hamburg with 1:5. This unpleasant result is also due to the fact that nine regular players left the club after last season. The priority for the coming period is therefore clear: staying in the league.

Additionally, the team had a difficult time competing in the first few games, which led to signs of fatigue. Captain Ben Bruns emphasized that the team spirit remains strong despite these setbacks. “We will strengthen ourselves with young players after the indoor season,” announced Bruns. Discussions with potential external newcomers are already underway.
