A violent storm shaken Northern Germany last night and triggered numerous operations by the fire brigade. The thunderstorm ended the long-lasting heat wave and ensured an abrupt temperature and weather change. The Bremen fire brigade was demanded between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. with 45 missions, while violent gusts of wind and lightning strikes caused excitement throughout the region. The missions in Bremen focused on fallen trees, broken branches and damaged vehicles. An incident in Ritterhude was particularly frightening, where after a lightning strike the roof structure of an apartment building went up in flames, which led to five injuries, including two firefighters. Also in Neuberend, district of Schleswig-Flensburg, there was a roof truss fire due to a lightning strike. Here, however, the use of the fire brigade remained successful, since two residents were able to flee outdoors in good time.
