Earth heat initiative: Neustadt combines neighbors for climate protection!
In Neustadt Bremen, the neighbors take things into their own hands - for a better climate. Rainer Güntzel and Thomas von der Marwitz met with a lecture on geothermal energy and are now on the right track to establish their own geothermal network. An obstacle are the circumstances of the NeustadtContrescarpe: most houses are on one side of the street, which means that more owners per street section have to be won for the project. Rainer Güntzel and Thomas von der Marwitz report that at least two clusters with 17 to 25 owners would be necessary to get the project up and running. At the moment, 23 households are already interested, but there are still a few owners missing.
In addition, questions about permits, costs and the implementation time must be clarified. It also remains open how tenants can be included in the initiative in order to reach the owners. In order to win further interested parties, the initiators have launched various actions, including breakfast and fire shell evenings, as well as the distribution of information materials. The initiative for the geothermal network in the Neustadt shows how communal commitment can contribute to strengthening the neighborhood. The Renewable Energy Act (EEG) aims to cover at least 80 % of German electricity consumption from renewable energies by 2030.
