Knife attack in Bremen-Neustadt: 53-year-old harassed and robbed!

A disturbing incident occurred in Bremer Neustadt on Sunday morning, September 7, 2025, in which a 53-year-old man was threatened with a knife and robbed by three unknown perpetrators. The incident happened around 9:45 a.m. on Otto-Lilienthal-Straße, in the Neuenland district. According to initial reports of the crime, the victim suffered from a circulatory collapse and had to be treated by rescue workers. The perpetrators demanded the man's shoulder bag and didn't shy away from kicking him in the leg. They then fled with the loot.

The description of the perpetrator is quite impressive: the main perpetrator is around 20 to 25 years old and is wearing a colorful tracksuit and white Adidas sneakers with black stripes. There is also a noticeable scar on the left side of his face. His accomplices were also young, wearing beige tracksuits and caps and adorned with gold chains. However, the police search that was launched immediately was unsuccessful. The criminal police have now also taken over the investigation and are looking for witnesses who may be able to provide information about the perpetrators. Anyone who has seen anything is asked to call 0421 362-3888.

A worrying trend

The attack fits into the picture of a worrying development in Bremen, where crime has been characterized by an increasing number of knife attacks in recent years. According to current police crime statistics, there were a total of 389 knife attacks in Bremen in 2024, with 132 cases being used as a threat. This development creates an ever-increasing feeling of insecurity among citizens. Interior Senator Ulrich Mäurer (SPD) reported a general reduction in robbery crimes, but the number of street robberies rose from 587 to 625 cases. Especially in street robberies, 73 percent of the suspects are non-German, which further complicates the situation. Buten and inland has reported extensively on these developments.

Incidents of this nature pose challenges not only to the police, but also to the community as a whole. The ongoing attacks and associated violence shed light on urgently needed measures to improve security in neighborhoods. The Criminal Investigation Department encourages the public to be vigilant and report information about suspicious activity. At a time when many people's sense of security is at risk, every bit of information could be helpful.

Stay safe and take care of yourself and your neighbors!
